P250 non-sterile wide bore tips are created to work with the Biomek NX, NXp, FX and FXp automation systems with the Multichannel or Span-8 pod, and the Biomek 3000 P200L and MP200 Tools. With a tip orifice diameter twice as large as standard tips, the wide bore tips are useful in an array of applications: library construction for next generation sequencing sample prep where the bead mixture is viscous, stem cell research to reduce the inadvertent cell lysis of large cell-aggregates of embryoid bodies, nucleic acid preparation to minimize DNA shearing, cellular applications where pipetting of viscous solutions such as glycerol solution, is commonly used, bio-fuels/bio-energy research where cellulose slurries may clog standard tips, and crop research/seed development where samples may contain large particulates. Tips are manufactured to ensure straight, leak-proof products and to be free of DNA, DNase/RNase, PCR inhibition, pyrogen/endotoxin and trace metals.
