The system features touch-key controls with specimen travel graphic indicator and clear digital displays of cryochamber and cryobar temperatures. The Shandon Cryotome Es precision microtome is lightweight, has a complete travel range, and a 360-degree specimen orientation capability. Housed outside the cryochamber, the microtome is easy to clean and maintain. The Shandon microtome cryostat also has an ACCU-FEED system with 25,000m advance can be set at 1-20m intervals in 1m increments and 20-60m intervals at 5m increments. The well-illuminated, stainless-steel cryochamber of the Cryotome E system utilizes open-top design to minimize temperature gain during prolonged use. It can extend the temperature down to -30C (-22F). The Peltier-controlled cold spot on Cryobar aids quick-freezing to -60C (-76F), reducing ice crystal artifact formation. The cryochamber also features a CFC-free refrigerant, foam insulation, and automatic programmable defrost. Additionally, the Shandon Cryotome E is designed with ergonomics and safety in mind. Along with a locking, frost-free window and a positive-locking flywheel with three-position locks, the system features formaldehyde fumigation of the cryochamber.
