Product Description The Drew Scientific DS5 HbA1c Measurement System is intended for the measurement of HvA1c in blood samples. The Drew Scientific DS5 HbA1c Measurement Systems small size and ease of use makes it ideal for main laboratory clinic or satellite laboratory settings. It is an ideal step up from manual or point-of-care systems. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is a very useful test in monitoring diabetic patients. It is a measure of the mean amount of blood glucose present in the patient over the previous 3 months and is therefore useful as a monitoring tool. In order to measure HvA1c it has to be separated from the non-glycated hemoglobin. The printout shows a chromatogram so that result quality retention time and HbA1c result can be checked. Data can be transmitted via an RS232 port. Performance and Standardization The DS5 is NGSP certified to produce results equivalent to DCCT requirements. This means that the accuracy and precision of the DS5 meets all available standards for production of quality results. In addition to the DS5 kit a DS5 calibrator is also avilable. This enables the user to calibrate the system to either of the internationally recognized standards NGSP or IFCC. Quality Control The DS5 HbA1c controls are assayed independently to give values on the DS5. The controls are lyophilized and reconstituted with 0.3ml of water. Open vial stability in common with regular blood samples is one week. Sample type/handling Automatic sampling from a 15 position carousel containing pre-diluted samples.
