Power supply is used in many radiographic systems, which are used to for imaging method diagnosis using X-rays. The systems work on the principle where high velocity electrons, when interacted with patient’s body, their kinetic energy is converted into electromagnetic radiation (X-rays). A detector that is in line with the source of rays, detects them and measures their properties. The AMX 4 is a portable x-ray machine where low voltage low energy (LVLE) power is supplied to the machine and 4 outputs are provided. A power fail detect signal is also provided. The output voltages do not overshoot at turn-on or turn-off. Several tests like output voltage accuracy, power fail detection/low input power detect test, line regulation, load regulation test, efficiency test (the ratio of output power to input power), P/P ripple test, Hi-Pot test peak inrush current, turn on delay test, overshoot, overload protection and output stability over time test are performed on the power supply before it is used in real time operation.
