General information
Several types of nails for most current usage: assembling of wood structures, attaching roof and wall covers (iron sheets, plastic sheets).
Standard nails are made of iron. Other materials exist (aluminium, stainless steel, copper) for very specific usage.
Different types of corrosion resistance are available.
- Uncoated: The nails will rapidly rust unless they are stored in a dry environment. These nails are for dry usage. i.e. indoor wood structures, including inside framing, and wall panels.
- Hot deep galvanised: Good level of rust protection. Mandatory for roof nails and recommended for wall cladding nails.
- Other types: Barrel hot galvanized, electroplated, peen-plated, are protected to a certain degree. To look at if the two above products do not answer your needs.
Different types of shank are available.
- Twisted shank mandatory for roof nails and wall cladding nails.
- Standard plain circular shank for other normal applications.
Some specifications may vary with national standards and local market conditions. For locally sourced items, check the relevant national standards or specifications. Any important variation from the EIC standard needs to be approved by a specialist.
Specifications
For all types of nails:
Iron nails, made of carbon steel, cold processed, not heat treated except for galvanisation.
