This extensometer model connects to test specimens in a matter of seconds. Used to test split-type materials for furnaces. The Model 3549 is a major advancement in the development of external furnace extensometers. This extensometer is designed to meet the stringent demands of controlled deformation testing, while at the same time introducing many new innovative features that help improve performance in static testing (tensile and compression testing) and long-term testing such as fatigue and creep. The extensometer is mounted on water-cooled brackets, with standard temperature supplied by alumina rods. Device mounting brackets can be combined with the oven cutout. It is equipped with a stem and an optional load bracket frame, which are custom made to the user’s preference. This extensometer can be installed after reaching thermal equilibrium. A standard modification of this can be used in carousel systems for rapid high temperature testing. Other modifications of this device are possible for use in a vacuum environment.
