The CD42a antigen (GPIX) is a 22 kDa single-chain membrane glycoprotein that forms a noncovalent complex with CD42b, CD42c and CD42d (GP1X, GP1b, GPV). The CD42a-d complex is the receptor for von Willebrand»s factor and is known as von Willebrand»s factor-dependent adhesion receptor. The CD42a antigen is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes.
